A Beautiful Bespoke Birthday Party in Wiltshire

Earlier this month, Lettice enjoyed a journey to Wiltshire for a very special 21st Birthday Party for two brothers. We put our luxury event planning experience into practice, creating a bespoke menu and full event design for this wonderful summer evening event.

The venue: A large marquee was erected in the gardens of a private house in Wiltshire. The reception was held in the gardens, followed by dinner in the dining marquee with an open kitchen, and then a DJ and disco in the adjoining dance tent until the (not so) early hours! A beautiful lounge area was set aside for those not wishing to party quite so hard.

Event design and styling: The design for this event was completed entirely by Lettice, working with our lovely suppliers. The original inspiration for the event was an Ibiza themed party, which gradually evolved to incorporate a little more ‘rustic English garden’, with theme colours of natural wood, green, white and accents of gold.

The beautiful white pole tent structure from South West Marquees was fitted out with lighting and production equipment from our friends at Oxygen, with gorgeous low lounge furniture and chrome storm lanterns from the team at Raj Tent Club.

Table dressing followed the lines of the theme colours, with tall white pillar candles in hurricane vases and a variety of herb plants and lavender in white pots dotted along the table, interspersed with green water glasses and classic white china.

What they ate at the reception: Substantial canapés were served in lieu of a starter. The selection of styles was inspired by the birthday boys’ favourite foods: Sushi, Dim Sum and Tapas.

Sushi served on black slates
Tiger prawn tempura roll topped with salmon, avocado and shichimi togarashi
Soft shell crab futomaki with tamago, daikon and spicy shichimi sauce
Spicy tuna gunkan
Pickled carrot, avocado, rocket, cucumber and wasabi mayonnaise futomaki
Avocado hosomaki
Thai crab salad in endive leaves
BBQ Teriyaki skewers: Chicken, beef and salmon

Dim Sum served in bamboo steamer baskets
Cider & five spice steamed pork buns 
Prawn and chive steamed Shu Mai 
Vegetable summer rolls with sweet chilli dipping sauce
Vegetable puff with cauliflower, mange tout, carrot, celery and cashew nut

Tapas served on olive wood boards
Mini cod tacos with shredded slaw, chipotle mayo & pickled cucumber
Mini chicken enchiladas empanadas
Little gazpacho shots with celery stem

What they ate for the main course: We served a family-style meal of beef tagliatta, fries and garden salads, spread out along the tables for guests to help themselves.

Green herb salad with coriander, parsley, mint & pickled dill with lightly toasted almonds & pumpkin seeds

What they ate after dinner: Following the meal, the dance tent was revealed with a live DJ, saxophonist and singer. As a lot of the younger (and older!) guests got up to dance, a dessert and cheese station was set up in the lounge area for guests to nibble on throughout the rest of the evening, and an ice cream tricycle was unveiled in the garden.

At 1.30am, a shish kebab station opened up in the garden and was soon surrounded by peckish guests!

Classic chocolate fudge brownie bites served in a flowerpot with edible flowers
Little choux with vanilla cream, milk chocolate chunks and raspberries
Raspberry meringue kisses with hazelnut cream
Dark chocolate and salted caramel macaroons
Cheese selection served with crusty baguette, rustic biscuits, grapes and a selection of chutneys

Ice cream tricycle with a selection of 10 different ice creams and sorbets, with fruits and sweet toppings

Late night snacks
Lamb Shish Kebabs with all the trimmings
Falafel in pita breads
