If you’re planning a summer wedding in 2017 and didn’t have a Pinterest board ready to go before you were even engaged, we wouldn’t blame you if you were feeling a little overwhelmed by the plethora of options available for your big day.
Luckily for you, we are crazy about summer weddings and have been more than happy to do some of the work for you by rounding up our favourite wedding menu trends we expect to be seeing more of in 2017.
From bottomless brunch to bespoke cocktail tricycles; to say we like what we see would be an understatement!
We adore this trend, not just because we love brunch, but because it is so versatile. You can take it literally and serve brunch, try brunch themed canapés, or simply serve bottomless mimosas (speaking of prosecco, check out our recent post on how to create the perfect prosecco margarita cocktail).
Who doesn’t love a bit of theatre with their food? Teppanyaki? Yes please! Interactive stations are really fun as they give your guests a chance to watch and even take part in the action; chefs live cook one or more aspects of the dish whilst guests choose the rest.
Couples wanting their wedding to have a personal touch is nothing new. In 2016 it was all about the personalised #weddinghashtag and before that came photo place settings and monogrammed favours. In 2017, we expect to see the trend of putting a fancy twist on the couple’s favourite food taking the wedding world by storm; think spaghetti and meatball canapés or mini grilled cheeses with tomato soup.
From garden parties and lawn games to Gatsby inspired glam, the love for 1920’s themed affairs continues to grow and we are super pleased! For the menu, think speakeasy inspired finger food paired with classic whiskey cocktails.
Who says that kebab vans should be reserved for after the pub on a Friday night and ice cream stands for the fair? We can’t get enough of the retro food and drink tricycles from our friends at Ideas Box; from cheese to waffles, everything tastes better served from a bespoke tricycle! For even more quirky catering ideas, check out the time our event planner Kate went to make new friends at EPS and Confex.
