With the last of long summer evenings coming to an end, Lettice catered a dreamy 18st birthday party in North London.
Set in a private home, the marquee was set in the garden and strung with festoons of fairy lights. From the trees hung lanterns and hidden in the rose bushes were our hurricane candles, setting the scene for a magical evening.
The table was set with pure white linen and vintage floral plates, each one with its own unique design. The glassware was suitably pink and the napkins were rolled and adorned with perfect pink bows. The host had made her own place settings with pressed flowers from the garden and each guest had a cashmere blanket to keep warm after the sun had set.
Salmon blinis with horseradish crème fraiche, apple and dill
Crostini of fig, prosciutto, goats’ cheese, pine nits and basil
Sweetcorn fritters, crab, ‘nduja mayo and coriander cress
Watermelon Greek salad with fried halloumi and marjoram
Chopped kale tabbouleh with sour cherries
Char-grilled flat breads
Roast cauliflower Lebanese rice
Char-grilled aubergines, saffron yoghurt dressing, pomegranate, toasted almonds and mint
Ras-el-hanout roast pumpkin with roast red onions, chillies yoghurt, coriander and pumpkin seeds
Rose harissa tzatziki
Fresh berries, vanilla ice-cream, honeycomb and homemade hazelnut sable biscuit

You completely “got” what she wanted. Nothing wasn’t thought of. And the food was absolutely delicious– what a joy to have leftovers carefully packaged up for us! I never want to do a party without you again!”
